Website training session for Sukan Sarawak Secretariat staff

KUCHING – A training session was recently organised for the Secretariat staff and volunteers of Sukan Sarawak 2017 (SukSar) and it was held at the Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS) business and communications centre of Kuching-Samarahan Expressway.  The training was jointly organised by Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) and Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS) for the use of the official website for the coming SukSar 2017 to be held in Kuching from December 14 – 17.

Present during the function was SAINS Chief Executive Officer, Dr Anderson Tiong while SSC Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ong Kong Swee was represented by Daud Dato Aba who is also SukSar’s Secretariat Chief.According to Dr Anderson, the training session is to enable the SukSar’s secretariat staff and volunteers to be familiar with the updating and managing of the official website which will be launched soon.The training of SukSar’s Integrated Games Management System (IGMS) is expected to be held early in December where the technical volunteers and officers will be involved.

The use of IGMS in this year’s SukSar will facilitate SSC’s efforts to record the details and background of all the 828 participating athletes who are representing the four zones namely Central Zone comprising of those selected from Sibu, Kapit and Mukah, the Northern Zone (Miri, Bintulu and Limbang), the Western Zone (Sarikei, Betong and Sri Aman) and Southern Zone (Kuching, Samarahan and Serian).

The games schedule and results of the 14 different sports for the normal athletes and para athletes will be available on SukSar’s website in which the general public especially the athletes themselves can monitor the progress of the competitions.

Among the sports to be competed in SukSar are weightlifting, badminton, cycling, handball, lawn bowls, judo, karate, archery, Muay, athletics, rugby, swimming and women sepaktakraw. The four sports for the para athletes are swimming, athletics, powerlifting and archery.
