CEO Message

Greetings and welcome to our website!

The inception of Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) on the 1st January 2016 by the Sarawak Government is timely and is part of the dynamic transformation of sports in the State. It has been the State Government’s vision of turning Sarawak into the Sports Powerhouse in Malaysia and the establishment of SSC is part of achieving that status in time to come

Having a better pool of world class athletes and highly qualified coaches and sports administrators in Sarawak is also another step in moving forward toward achieving the Sports Powerhouse status.

In that respect, we had planned and doubling efforts including having sports education courses such as sports specific, sports science, leadership, sports administration and management courses with the aim to produce quality performance standards among local sports associations, clubs and other non-government organizations (NGOs)

It is our main emphasis to promote the application of modern sports science and management that will result in having quality coaches, officials, managers and consultants apart from having the latest quality sports equipment and facilities in the various sports fields and games. In other words, promoting the use of sports science and management is very important as it will boost the pace of our sports development.

Another aspect of sports developments that needs to be given emphasis is Talent development programs with the aim to have a better pool of the finest sports athletes who will be chosen from a large pool of good and talented athletes from the state 10 major sports.

In ensuring quality services and its high standard deliveries, SSC had established a new team of qualified technical personals that can provide the professional support system when it comes to organization major sporting events at national or international level. The team of qualified sports development officers, sports high performance officers, engineers and technicians will ensure all available facilities, equipment and amenities are always up and running to the specifications required in some highly technical sports such shooting, cricket, swimming, diving and etc.

In our tireless efforts to become a Sports Powerhouse in Malaysia, Sarawak must be able to provide the conducive environment and platforms for hosting and staging world and international sporting events locally in Sarawak.

The past recent years. Sarawak had already organized several notable international and world sporting events which include badminton, squash, swimming, athletics, tennis, 10-pin bowling, football, shooting, athletic, weightlifting, archery, wushu and the list goes on.

Sarawak Sports Corporation had recently hosted the 31st Malaysian International Open Masters Athletics championships 2017 (MIOMAC), Celcom Axiata Badminton Malaysia Open 2017, Victor Malaysia Master Badminton 2017, 20th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championship 2019, 117th Malaysian Amateur Open Golf Competition, 5th SSC-CMS Borneo Open Squash, Sarawak International Open Tenpin Bowling Championship 2019, Tun Hanif Trophy Sports Excel/NSC/MILO/ NSAM 2nd Malaysian Junior Shooting Championship 2019, 26th World Masters Badminton Championship 2019, 21st Asia Master Athletic Championship 2019 and Wu Wang Cup Wushu International Championship 2019. Looking forward, Sarawak is also bidding for more international sporting events, sports conferences and seminars such as World Master Archery 2022, Borneo games 2021, Tafisa Asian Games Sports for All 2022 and other International and World sporting events to be held in Sarawak.

All of these efforts is testament to Sarawak’s and its continuing efforts to establish itself in the world’s sports tourism map which will bring a host of positive impacts to the country and the people of Sarawak in the long haul. It is therefore important for all members of the Sarawak sports fraternity including local sports associations to commonly share the vision of making Sarawak the Sports Powerhouse to be reckoned with.

I wish to extend my appreciation to all Sarawak Sports Corporation and Sarawak State Sports Council staff for the commitments in making the vision and aspiration of SSC to materialize.

The recent COVID 19 pandemic this year may in some way created some obstacles and challenges to achieved SSC vision and aspiration but with strong commitment, proactive approaches and positive attitudes from all sports practitioners and stakeholders; I am very confident that we will overcome all this challenges and will definitely able to achieve even a much greater achievement to be a sports power house in Malaysia.

Thank you
