During the meeting, the Assistant Minister also suggested for all the relevant chief coaches of the sports competing in Sukma to  form a special committee.

“We want to make sure  we will become champion and must form a special committee by the coaches to select the best athletes. There is also a need to call back athletes who are Sarawakians if they are good  as we want all our own athletes to represent the State”, he said.

According to him, there are a few of Sarawakian athletes studying in Sabah’s Sports School who are good enough while in squash there are players now studying in other countries

Meanwhile, Sarawak Sports Corporation CEO Dr. Ong Kong Swee, who also spoke at the meeting, issued a strong statement to the coaches to achieve their KPI based on their contracts.

The coaches were also advised to direct their concerns to the sports coordinators in charge of the respective sports who will bring up such matters straight to him.

Ong also brought up the importance of anti-doping and instructed the coaches to take special care to prevent any problems arising out of athletes consuming the wrong food or supplements. (Photo credit: The Borneo Post)
