29 Oct Sarawak coaches attend talk on Sukma Perak 2018 preparations
KUCHING: About 100 coaches involved with the preparations for the 19th Sukma in Perak attended a briefing organised by Sarawak Sports Corporation and Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS) on October 28.
At the briefing which also involved preparations for Sukan Sarawak (Suksar) to be held on December 14-17 in Kuching where the local and foreign coaches were told to plan their training programmes to include exposure tours so as to get the optimum performance of the athletes during the games.
“Training must be done in stages and plan your exposure trips especially those going outside the country depending on what class of sports you are in,” said Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ong Kong Swee.
Dr Ong pointed out on the need to organise more sports science courses for the coaches and athletes in Sarawak as attending such courses organised by the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) in Semenanjung Malaysia would be costly and time consuming. Also present at the briefing were members of the coaching panel Dr Balbir Singh and Dr S Pathmanathan.
