18 Dec Miri to host 2019 edition of Sukan Sarawak
KUCHING: The 2019 edition of Sukan Sarawak (SukSar) will be hosted by Miri and the State government expressed hope for SukSar 2.0 to be bigger, better and will be able to unearth more capable and potential talents in sports.
This was mentioned in the closing speech by Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Sarawak, YB Datuk Snowdan Lawan who is also SukSar organising committee chairman.
“As the state heads towards its vision to become a sports powerhouse, SukSar serves as the best venue for talent scouting, and at the same time a platform to produce world class athletes,” said YB Datuk Snowdan in his speech read by Datu Ik Pahon Joyik who is Permanent Secretary to Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports.
“The performances of our athletes at all 14 sports were satisfying, including for Para sports,” he said while reiterated the function of the state-level multi-sports event.
“With the next Sukma in Perak, I hope that those who shine in this just concluded event will be given the chance to represent the state, and bring glory to Sarawak once again,” the Minister said while urging all athletes to brace themselves for the next Sukan Malaysia (Sukma) to be held in Perak next year.
