28 Jan Former world champion praise teachers attend 10-pin bowling course
KUCHING: Former world 10-Pin bowling champion, Shalin Zulkipli had praised the participants of the Phase II of Tenpin Bowling Teachers Instructors Course 2018 for taking part in the development initiatives undertaken by Amateur (Tenpin) Bowling Association of Sarawak (ABAS).
“I hope all the participants will appreciate this course because even in the Semenanjung we do not get to do this as often as Sarawak. It’s not so easy to gather all the teachers for the course,” said the 4-time world champion.
Shalin is the first female Malaysian to win the World 10-Pin Masters in 2001 and was invited to share her experience and knowledge with the teachers, bowlers and fans during the course which was held at Megalanes Sarawak of Jalan Batu Kawah from Jan 25-27.
“If they are involved in sports, they will learn to become better students and better people,” she said while expressing hope for the teacher and instructors to learn about the game better so that they can pass their knowledge and passion to their students.
Meanwhile, a total of 122 participants including teachers from 52 schools received their certificates from Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC), chief executive officer Dr Ong Kong Swee who was accompanied by ABAS certified coaches, Robert Lu who is also ABAS vice president, , Jackson Ting, Angelo Koay and Bong Kihow.
