SSC USES WEBINAR IN EDUCATION FOR ATHLETES AND COACHES

Kuching(August 12): Webinars could become an “ongoing tool” as part of the education for Sarawak athletes under the development programmes.

This was in view of the limitations and restrictions resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) chief executive officer Dr Ong Kong Swee said webinars are aimed at not only giving educationawareness but also changing the mindset of athletes to adopt new healthy habits and minimise unhealthy behaviour.

“At the SSC, our mission is to empower Sarawak athletes to achieve sustained competitive excellence and well-being.

“This webinar has stimulated engagement among the audience, who were able to pose questions to the guest speakers, contributing to debate on tips how we can educate and support the athletes well-being,” he said at the opening of the “Tele-Health Education Talk Series For Sarawak Development Athletes” recently.

The text of Ong’s speech was read by SSC sports development division manager Ahmad Rodzli Hashim. The webiner was attended by 361 athletes, coaches, parents and sports development officers. It is divided into three series and will be held on a monthly basis as part of athletes’ continuous education series.

Guest speakers senior physiotherapist Eu Sze Kang and physiotherapist Premma Lucia from Rehab Concept Sdn Bhd sahred their insights on the role of rehabilitation in managing sports-related injury, basic sports massage and foot health awareness.

It was moderated by Joshua Philip from sports medicine unit of SSC High Performance Unit.
