
26 Jan Overwhelming response for 10-pin bowling course for teachers
KUCHING – Response towards the Tenpin Bowling Instructor Course (Phase II) 2018 for school teachers had been overwhelming with a record of 118 participants had registered for the three-day course being held at Megalanes Sarawak of Jalan Batu Kawah from 25 – 27 January.
The course was organised by Amateur Bowling (Tenpin) Association of Sarawak (ABAS) in collaboration with Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) where teachers from Bau, Serian, Kota Samarahan, Demak Laut, Matang, Asajaya, Semunjan, Muara Tebas and even Mukah attended. It is a follow-up to last year’s course held in July where 55 teachers participated.
The course programme were conducted by ABAS’ certified coaches, Robert Lu who is also the association vice president, Jackson Ting, Angelo Koay, Bong Kihow, SSC’s youth development centre coach, Jerusha Chan and Dr Pathmanathan Suppiah who spoke on long-term athletes’ development and education through sports.
Among the highlights of the course are skill drills and physical games conducted by Khairul Faizi Yusop and national 10-pin bowling queen and 4-time world champion, Shalin Zulkifli.
