Introduction
Sarawak Stadium which is the iconic multi-purpose facility in Sarawak Sports Complex is located in Petra Jaya which is about 30 minutes away from Kuching City. It is currently the largest stadium in Sarawak and has a seating capacity for 40,000 spectators. It was fully completed in mid 199os and was the official preliminary venues for the 1997 World Youth Cup football championships. It was also venue for the recent 18th Malaysia Games (SUKMA) and 18th Malaysian Paralimpiad Games held from July to August 2016. The modern stadium has all the state of the art facilities such as LED screen and scoreboard; a Royal box and VIP grandstand as well as a lounge and viewing rooms for VIP. It has hosted many football matches played in the Malaysian Super League and the prestigious Malaysia Cup. Recently, it was the venue for the 31st Malaysia International Open Masters Athletics Championships 2017 held from 22 -23 July 2017. Almost 1,000 athletes from 7 countries including Malaysia had participated in the 2-day event.
